Dream Vacation! Mireille
Does this picture does not quite look like an island paradise? Not far Gentlemen Ladies! Lady Musgrave Island (Queensland), since it is from her that this was one of our vacation destinations Christmas, a family vacation ... dream also ... spent with Marianne (Dom's sister), her husband Jeremy and their children Levi and Salome. A happy tribe, who rises early and in good spirits as soon as the first rays of sunlight through the tent or the kookaburras (local birds) are launching their first morning laughs.
But back to our beautiful island. After a boat trip hard on sensitive stomachs, comfort arrived quickly at the option of snorkeling (mask and snorkel) among the fish and turtles, and walks in the rainforest of the island. The dream for bird family!
After our little tour Queensland, we fly towards the south and an island of another kind, Kangaroo Island.
Thank Qantas made us miss the boat, but offered us a great night in a hotel where we get dressed and smell of campers, we have the class or you do the no! Especially do not loupons mega breakfast buffet!
Our little group therefore begins to furrow Kangaroo Island to explore its beautiful landscapes and wildlife: kangaroos here, koalas there, elephant seals basking in the sun or bicker in the ocean, and turning a last walk, stand, dolphins. Delight young and old!
We become a fan of the beach and good swimming. After the holidays, we will we readjust to the cold polar french for some, cold air-conditioned office for others? Nothing is less certain, but live the holidays!
PS: You may know that floods have ravaged Queensland recently. We had the chance to pass between the drops, before the bulk of the flooding. We are not affected in Sydney, but many Queensland towns have suffered enormous damage. For the humorous touch, we would have even seen sharks in the city in Brisbane ...

Levi and Ephraim, the two belong together! Songs or chases, in french or English, the cousins are going well.

To show that it belongs Lille, Louis the Great in fact change the coat of arms: the iris marshes money funds reds give way to the good old lily, but it retains the colors.

He is replaced by the tower Castile and the tricolor (three weeks), then Stars and Stripes (15 stars at the time). One can admire all the flags in the lobby of Capitol in Baton Rouge.
It remains today as the flag of New Orleans, who proudly wears her three gold fleurs-de-lis (pronounced "flower-de-li", it seems that it is French ...)
In 1966, during the creation of the Saints football team, but we keep the flower colors are changed in favor of the now famous black and gold as tribute to the petrochemical industry, which has become the alpha and omega of Louisiana ...

Drug For Phlegm, Babies
Nord-Pas-de-Calais connection
By looking carefully, you always end up making comparisons.
By looking carefully, you always end up making comparisons.
This been a while since the Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Louisiana connection we trotted to the head and we are enjoying this long weekend for us to linger; extended weekend thanks to Martin Luther King, the thing is quite rare to be stressed, was a holiday just for him.
We start our comparison by historical and territorial aspects.
And first of all, Louis XIV.
August 28, 1667, after a siege of 10 days, Louis XIV between the city of Lille and receives the keys of the city. A year later, the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, Lille became French. Louis XIV shows some interest for the city and ordered the architect Simon Vollant building outside Paris that was built from 1685 to 1692, in memory of the attachment of Lille in France.
As for Louisiana, it became French April 9, 1682: this French-Canadian explorer René Robert Cavalier de la Salle, mandated by the same Louis XIV, and down the Mississippi, arrived in the Gulf Mexico, named the territory traversed the same time he takes up the nose and beard of the English.
Hence the second point in common: the English presence and its impact on regional architecture: earthenware and painted stucco. In Lille, it is the old stock exchange, built in 1652.
New Orleans, past the English from 1762 to 1800, was destroyed twice by fire in 1788 and 1794. It was rebuilt in brick, with stucco and wrought iron balconies.
The streets still bear the china plates in English.
Third historical legacy: the cool stuff that pulls pollutants from the basement. The
heaps on one side,
and of course we had Deepwater Horizon!
